Federal money coming to Nebraska to fight opioid epidemic

The Dept. of Justice announced nearly $320 million in funds to fight opioid addiction and Nebraska will get more than $1.3 million of that.
The Nebraska Dept. of Health and Humane Services, the Lancaster County-Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program and The Sarpy County Justice and Mental Health Collaboration program will all receive portion of the federal aid.
It’s all in an effort to enhance programs for those suffering from opioid addiction.
Last year, more than 72,000 Americans lost their lives to drug overdoses, that’s an increase from 64,000 in 2016.
