House bill named after fallen Omaha Police Officer

A bill named after fallen Omaha Police Officer Kerrie Orozco passed in the U.S. House last night.

The Kerrie Orozco First Responders Act passed in a voice vote and awaits an introduction to the Senate.

A bill sponsored by Congressman Don Bacon will allow the immediate relative of first responders who die in the line of duty to continue their immigration process.

Orozco was killed by a fugitive she was trying to serve a warrant to.

Her death left the fate of her immigrant husband Hector and his two children in Limbo.

They are still trying to become U.S. Citizens three years later.

This bill should help their process.
