Nebraska State Patrol identifies victim in Clay County homicide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol on Sunday released the name of the homicide victim in Clay County.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Heather Gray, the state patrol said in a press release.

The suspect, 39-year-old Toby Gray, was transported to Aurora Memorial Hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and has since been flown to Bryan West in Lincoln with life-threatening injuries.

Troopers have custody of Gray at the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, the patrol said.

According to officials, there were children inside the home at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.

The patrol said the children were taken into protective care and have since been placed with family.
