Another warm one before more wind Friday
The stretch of spring-like temperatures continues this week.
We won’t be as windy today, either. You may need an extra layer or so in the morning, but we’ll warm to the lower and mid-60s.
And we’re in for a lot of sunshine again both Thursday and Friday. Yet Friday will have a lot more wind as we try to warm to the upper 60s.
More gusty winds will be around 40-45 mph out of the northwest into Friday afternoon.
As we get closer to spring, fire danger will continue to be a concern when the winds pick up. For now, a Fire Weather Watch is in place for a good portion of eastern and central Nebraska for Friday afternoon and evening.
This will be an area likely to go under a Red Flag Warning (not a burn ban, but a heads up that weather conditions are just right for fires to spark and get out of control).
After all that wind, this weekend will start out cooler. Highs will be closer to 50° on Saturday with much lighter winds.
Then rain chances will start to return to the forecast with a small chance Sunday night.
A system will bring some rain likely on Tuesday. As that system exits, we could see a transition from rain to a wintry mix/snow into Wednesday. Something we are watching closely!
