LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska baseball’s Devin Nunez snagged a weekly conference award for his weekend performance in the Lone Star State.

On Monday, officials announced that Nunez was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after the Huskers spent the weekend playing in the Frisco Classic.

Nunez led the Huskers’ offensive output, hitting 7-of-14 with a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored in three games.

The designated hitter went 2-f0r-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Nebraska’s 8-3 win over Sam Houston.

He wrapped up the weekend with a two-run inside-the-park home run in the loss to Kansas State.

Nebraska was supposed to play UNO at Tal Anderson Field on Tuesday, but that game was postponed due to forecasted inclement weather.

The Huskers are scheduled to face off against South Dakota State in their first game of the season at Haymarket Park on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
