Score! High school basketball tourneys have up to $6 million economic impact on Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Local business owners are feeling the benefits of the girls state basketball tournament.
Visit Lincoln, an organization that helps businesses attract tourists, estimates that during the two weeks of the high school basketball championship tournaments, there’s a $4 million to $6 million economic impact.
For many businesses, the support can be invaluable.
“The entire community is seeing the benefits of these championships,” said Derek Bombeck, the director of sports for Visit Lincoln. “That’s why they’re advertising on their billboards like, ‘Welcome NSAA fans.'”
Bombeck said March is one of the busiest months for local businesses.
