Teen who police say mistakenly shot brother in north Lincoln is released on bail
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The teen who police say mistakenly shot his brother at a north Lincoln apartment complex was released on bail Monday.
Kentrail McDaniel’s mother posted $10,000, which is 10% of the $100,000 bond.
McDaniel, 16, fired 15 rounds at a “masked figure” near 14th and Superior streets on Christmas Eve, according to court documents.
The masked man turned out to be his brother, 20-year-old Johnathan McCray. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

McDaniel is charged with manslaughter and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
Also on Monday, a judge denied a request to move his case to juvenile court.
Judge Susan Strong cited the seriousness of the charges and found that the teen could benefit from the “more intensive supervision” offered by district court.
