Nebraska Bowling finishes third at NCAA Championship

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska bowling team’s season came to an end Saturday in Las Vegas, as they lost to Youngstown State 2-0 in the semifinals of the NCAA Bowling Championship.
Nebraska started off the traditional match against Youngstown State with Haley Swindle, Desiree Buchert, Kayla Verstraete, Anna Callan and Jillian Martin. The two teams previously met on Friday where the Penguins topped the Huskers, 2-0.
The Huskers were led by Kayla Verstraete with a 211, while freshman Haley Swindle posted a 203.
But in Saturday’s Mega Match, Nebraska fell 1,073-969, as the Penguins took the first point.
In the second point, Youngstown St. defeated Nebraska 1,125-1,006 to advance to the national title game.
It was the Huskers first return to the championship since 2023, and take home 3rd place in this year’s finals.
