Thousands of acres burn in Nebraska Sandhills after controlled burn gets out of control
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A wildfire in the Nebraska Sandhills has burned up to 14,000 acres, officials said Tuesday.
The Plum Creek Fire started as a prescribed burn, but it got out of control, the Nebraska Forest Service said on Facebook.
It is burning through steep canyons and trees between Valentine and Ainsworth, according to the forest service.
It is 30% contained, authorities said.
