Stormtroopers descend on Seward theater for ‘Star Wars: Episode III’ anniversary

SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) — A “Star Wars” cosplay group hosted a special event Wednesday at Seward’s Rivoli Theater.
Stormtroopers, Darth Vader and jawas came to a showing of the 2005 film “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith.”
The 501st Legion, a worldwide organization of people who dress up as “Star Wars” villains, aims to reinforce the fandom by appearing at events commemorating the 20th anniversary of the movie.
The local squad of the 501st was in Seward to interact with fans, take photos and make the anniversary showing feel more special.
“We’re here to add to the ambiance of it,” Jason Ready, the local squad leader, said.
He said the group has “garrisons and squads all over.”
The 501st Legion also aims to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work.
