Man loses over $12,000 in Facebook immigration scam, Grand Island Police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Grand Island Police Department is investigating a fake Facebook account offering legal status for money.
Over the past eight months, a 45-year-old man sent more than $12,000 to the owner of the page in return for residency status, police said.
According to the police department, the man has yet to receive what he is paying for.
Police said the profile and its associates are believed to be fake.
The fraud is under investigation.
