Two-vehicle crash in northeast Nebraska sends one to hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was taken to the hospital Thursday after a two-vehicle crash in northeast Nebraska.
Around 10:20 a.m., the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office was called to a crash on Highway 24 near 560th Avenue, between Norfolk and Stanton.
According to investigators, an SUV was driving east on Highway 24 when it slowed down to turn into a private driveway.
A second eastbound SUV tried to swerve out of the way, but hit the rear end of the first SUV on the right side.
An adult passenger in the first SUV was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver and three small children in the first SUV were treated at the scene and declined medical transport.
According to officials, the driver of the second SUV said she became distracted just before the collision.
“Seatbelts and child safety seats were in use by all those involved and clearly show that restraints do lessen or prevent more serious injuries,” Sheriff Mike Unger said.
