OPD: Seven people hospitalized in north Omaha shooting

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Seven people were injured early Saturday morning after a shooting in north Omaha.

At 4:20 a.m., officers with the Omaha Police Department were sent to the parking lot of Kelly’s Liquor near 30th and Pinkney streets.

According to the police department, officers heard multiple gunshots in the area and arrived to find a large crowd leaving the scene.

Shortly after, officers were sent to Immanuel Hospital, where four gunshot victims had arrived by a private vehicle.

Just before 4:30 a.m., officers were also sent to a crash near 36th Avenue and Lothrop Street.

Investigators said the driver, who had been shot while fleeing the scene of the shooting, lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

At 4:32 a.m., two additional gunshot victims arrived at the Creighton University Medical Center, according to OPD.

In total, seven people were shot, but none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

The Omaha Police Department’s Assault Unit is investigating the shooting, but no suspect information has been given.
