Food Friday: Virginia’s Travelers Cafe serving Lincoln for three generations

Virginia’s Travelers Cafe has been a staple in northeast Lincoln for four decades, serving up home-style cooking.

Ownership has gone through three generations of family, keeping the regular customers who come through the doors fed with their Virginia’s favorites.

Virginia’s set up shop in Lincoln in 1978, when now-owner Mark Von Busch’s grandma, Virginia, bought the building.

While they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, the breakfast menu is a favorite, featuring Virginia’s specialties like the Farm Platter or the Haystack.

Filling the booths and tables you’ll find anywhere from daily regulars who show up for every meal or people just passing through town.

Owner Tracy Von Busch says many of the out-of-town visitors they speak to site the home-style feeling that draws them in.

“They say it just feels like home…it just feels like a small town and we’re just walking into a small town right in the middle of Lincoln,” Von Busch said.

Virginia’s Travelers Cafe is open seven days a week, and everything on their menu can be made to order or taken to go.
