Police searching for man involved in assault at north Lincoln restaurant

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are seeking a man who was involved in an assault at a north Lincoln restaurant over the weekend.

On Sunday, around 1 a.m., officers were sent to La Cabaña near North 33rd Street and Cornhusker Highway on a report of an aggravated assault.

Officers found the victim, a 41-year-old Lincoln man, unconscious behind the bar “with a large group of people around him,” police said.

Witnesses reported that an unknown man and the victim had fought “multiple times” throughout the evening.

It started with a fist fight and then the assailant swung a wooden 2×4 at the victim, according to police.

The unknown man also hit the victim several times in the back of the head with a wheel jack.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital and later discharged after regaining consciousness.  He had no “significant” injuries.
