Fall-like feel this week; early Husker forecast for Kansas City
The gorgeous weekend weather we had with low humidity and cooler temperatures extends into this week. Fall-like temperatures will only top out in the lower 70s this Monday, for our coolest day yet as UNL starts the fall semester.
Morning low temperatures were the coldest in Lincoln since June 10th. Northeast Nebraska saw some chilly morning lows in the 40s!
There’s certainly top-10 potential as well; all the ingredients are at play for a very comfortable day.
Winds will still be rather light today and out of the north. Temperatures this final week of August will mainly be in the 70s.
There is a chance for some light rain especially as we head into Tuesday morning for parts of southeast and eastern Nebraska.
The rest of the week will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny, counting down to the first Husker football game coming up this Thursday in Kansas City.
First thoughts on the forecast if you’re planning to travel that way by the end of this week: it’ll still be cooler on that day with high temperatures in the low to middle 70s for afternoon tailgating.
Scattered storms may be in the area especially for the first part of the morning, but they’re expected to clear out long before the start of the game.
Clouds will be decreasing with light winds out of the east to southeast during the game. By halftime, temperatures will dip into the 60s.
There’s a small chance for a few showers after midnight, yet the entire evening should continue to have that fall feeling just right for football. Plan to pack a light coat/sweatshirt and long sleeves for this first Husker game.
