WAVERLY, Neb. (KLKN) — Waverly squeaked by Bennington on Friday night, narrowly beating the Badgers at home.
The Vikings start their season 1-0 after they defeated Bennington 21-19.
Waverly wasted no time getting started.
Gavin McMillan made a big catch to put Waverly on the board first.
But the Badgers fought back.
Brady Schieffer threw a long pass to Russell Jake, who managed to stay on his feet and tie things up at 7.
Soon after, the pair made another huge play.
Russell caught a 40-yard pass from Schieffer, then ran it into the end zone.
A missed extra point put Bennington up 13-7.
