Explosion in Hastings food truck caused by propane tank, authorities say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A food truck exploded in Hastings early Thursday morning.

Just before 4:30 a.m., crews were sent to the Beto’s Tacos food truck near Seventh Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Multiple 911 calls were made by the public due to the boom of the explosion.

According to Hastings Fire and Rescue, the explosion was caused by a propane leak that was ignited by an open flame.

The one occupant — an adult male — was able to walk out of the food truck on his own.

He was taken to Mary Lanning Healthcare with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the fire department, the truck did not have a propane alarm.
