Rain continues for a cooler Tuesday
The one town in Nebraska that did not need to see hail again this year besides McCook was Fremont. Fremont unfortunately got hit with large hail for the second time this year last night (up to golf ball size this time).
You may remember the awful hailstorm back in April, when hail up to softball size battered the area.

While rain is expected to continue for a lot of us today, here’s a benchmark for where a lot of us stand as of 10 a.m. Tuesday morning with recent rainfall amounts. Some viewers in Lincoln showing rain gauges between 1-2″ so far, too, though amounts across town vary by a lot. These numbers have been updated since our morning show.
The severe threat dropped off in Nebraska beyond midnight last night. No severe weather is anticipated as showers and weak storms continue Tuesday. We’ll be kept a lot cooler today.
Rain off and on will be possible throughout the day in Tuesday’s forecast.
Coverage from the topside of this low-pressure system will keep rain going across southern Nebraska around and south of I-80 through the evening hours, tapering off by Tuesday night.
Additional rainfall amounts past this morning through Tuesday night may add up to another 0.10 – 0.50″ or so, with heavier amounts if caught under a thunderstorm this morning or into the afternoon in southwest Nebraska.
The risk for severe weather today is off to the south by a state or so, of concern for those in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. The light green area is where run-of-the-mill thunderstorms are expected without the threat of severe weather, including here in Nebraska.
Clouds will decrease Wednesday morning, leading to a lot of dry and warmer days for the middle and end of this week.
Temperatures in the lower and middle 80s (slightly warmer than average) will be common through the end of September.
