Lincoln Lutheran shines at home, defeats Raymond Central

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Lutheran proved to be the better team on the field Friday night, as they defeated Raymond Central in Channel 8’s Game of the Week.

Both teams entered this contest with 3-1 records, but only one could come out on top.

To open the game, Raymond Central elected to receive the ball. Then, they churned out a lengthy opening drive, totaling nearly 8 minutes.

Quarterback Wyatt Jelinek used his legs to get across the goal line, giving the Mustangs an early 6-0 lead.

Lincoln Lutheran tacked on a field goal with its first possession, but late in the second quarter, Quarterback Henry Prokop connected with Trenton Ernst for the Warriors first touchdown of the night.

Lincoln Lutheran led 10-6 at halftime. They made some big stops on defense, forcing the Mustangs to turn the ball over on downs twice in the first half.

The Warriors would go on to outscore the Mustangs 14-8 in the second half, winning 24-14.

Lincoln Lutheran improves to 4-1, their best start since 2017.

Raymond Central falls to 3-2.
