Athlete of the Week: Norris football’s Markus Nelson

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Norris running back Markus Nelson had himself a game Friday night, totaling four touchdown’s in the Titans 38-7 win over Lincoln Pius X.

Nelson has been the lead back for Norris, starting four of five games in 2025. He leads the team in most categories.

“I just play with a chip on my shoulder, to where I feel like I’m the best player on the field,” said Nelson.

Through four games, Nelson is averaging 137.8 yards per game, and has already scored 12 touchdowns.

He has had multiple touchdowns in each game he’s started. He says the Titans began their work in the off season.

“We kind of got together, if we want to win, or we want a chance, we need to put the work in,” Nelson said. “We put a lot of work in the summer and it’s just starting to show.”

Nelson is in his second year at Norris after transferring from Nebraska City. He believes this years Titans can do something special.

“Our team thinks we can really have a shot at it all. As of now, we really haven’t seen anything that can stop us.”

Norris will host Standing Bear on Thursday night.
