One more warm day- Cold front Sunday night
Sunday will be another warm and windy day across eastern Nebraska, with south winds gusting up to 45 mph and highs in the low to mid-80s. By Sunday evening, the long-awaited cold front stalls out in SE Nebraska, sparking showers and thunderstorms around 6 PM. Monday morning will bring a big change — temperatures drop into the upper 40s and low 50s with a brisk, refreshing feel. Rain will continue through Monday afternoon in southeast Nebraska, with totals between 0.50” and 1.50” or more.
South winds will be gusting to around 40-45 mph through the late morning and early afternoon hours. Monday, north winds take over bringing lots of cool and refreshing air.
There is a MARGINAL risk for a few strong to severe storms Sunday evening. Main concerns will be quarter size hail and especially gusty winds.
Storms and showers will initiate along the stalled cold front near 6pm Sunday. This activity will become more linear in SE Nebraska near 8pm. Showers and thunderstorms will continue through your Monday morning and afternoon. Make sure you have that umbrella handy Monday!
There will be localized areas of flooding through Monday evening. The best chance for heavy rainfall looks to be south of Lincoln and Hebron east.
Sunday, high temperatures will be a lot cooler out west and warmer further east. Temperatures will range from 65 degrees to 87 degrees.
A much cooler week ahead! Temperatures will stay in the 60s through Tuesday, before warming back up into the 70s Wednesday. The second week of October is tracking to be above average temperature wise. We could see our next system by late next weekend.
