LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A home near downtown Lincoln went up in flames Friday night.

Just after 8:30 p.m., several crews with Lincoln Fire & Rescue were called to a home near 13th and D streets.

According to LFR, the fire, that was caused by an electrical issue, erupted in the kitchen.

LFR said the fire caused $60,000 in damage to the home.

Thomas Gollin — a witness to the fire on scene — told Channel 8 he was riding his bike by the home with the fire started.

Gollin said he broke a window in effort to rescue a man from the home.

According to Gollin, him and another man broke down the door and assisted the rescue of the man inside.

Gollin was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to his hand, according to LFR.

A firefighter on scene also suffered an unknown minor injury.

LFR said the man inside was not taken to the hospital.
