LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After a storm passed through Lincoln on Wednesday, things began to look very different in a matter of hours.

The skies cleared and there was a calmness in the air; however, as many Nebraskans know, it can change in a matter of minutes.

Channel 8 viewers submitted videos through the NOW local news app highlighting heavy rain, gray skies and even hail throughout the day.

One video depicting a shelf cloud moving through Waverly was uploaded by viewer Tim.

Another video of rain pouring from home gutters was uploaded by viewer Melanie, and the sounds of heavy rain hitting the pavement was sent in by viewer Josh.

Catherine Nelson lives in Southeast Lincoln and decided to go on a family walk after the storm past.

She says while at work, she had no idea how bad the conditions had been.

“It felt like heavy rain, but nothing crazy,” said Nelson.

“But then I got home and there were some areas that were really, really flooded and kind of wet. I was really confused.”

She then checked her phone and saw the reports of flooding in Northern Lincoln, adding that “it was really strange.”

Sherri Joyner works in Southeast Lincoln and says that her job made an announcement warning of an oncoming thunderstorm, however, once she left work, there was sunshine.

She had this to say about the change in weather, “This is Nebraska. I’ve lived here long enough. It doesn’t really surprise me.”
