Local college round up; Concordia and Nebraska Wesleyan both lose heartbreakers at home

 

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – All three local area colleges played on their home fields Saturday night.

Concordia fell 60-52 in double overtime against Midland on Homecoming.

The Bulldogs were up 31-7 at the break but surrendered 21 third quarter points, followed by 17 in the fourth quarter.

The loss marks their first of the season, making them 4-1 on the year.

The Prairie Wolves were looking for back-to-back wins at home Saturday at Abel stadium, vs. Loras College. Loras got on the board first to lead 7-0, but Nebraska Wesleyan quickly found some rhythm on offense.

Quarterback Connor White connected with both Joey Mclaughlin, and Corbin Horner in the endzones to tie things up at 14.

Trystin Myers attributed on defense, with an interception, followed by a rushing touchdown to take their first lead of the game, 21-14.

The Prairie Wolves eventually led 28-14, but Loras College would come from behind. The Duhawks scored 17 fourth quarter points, to steal the victory.

Nebraska Wesleyan lost 31-28, falling to 1-5.

Doane football put up a good fight against Mount Marty, taking a 14-13 lead at the break.

The final, however, was 31-14 Mount Marty.

The Tigers drop their second straight game and fall to 1-5 on the season.
