Lincoln teen reports being beaten, robbed in backseat of Uber

Lincoln Police say a teenager reported being beaten and robbed in the backseat of an Uber on Wednesday.

LPD says the 15-year-old boy was trying to sell an Apple Watch he had advertised on the Snapchat app. A man agreed to buy the watch and met the teen outside a home near 46th and Stockwell. The man arrived in an Uber and the victim got into the backseat with him to sell the watch, police said.

The man gave the teen some money that was described as having “Chinese writing on it,” police said. When the victim told the man the money was fake, the man punched him in the face multiple times, took the watch and ran away, police said.

Officers are working with the Uber driver and Snapchat to develop a suspect.

Police estimate the watch was worth $400.
