‘It’s impacting everyone’: Amazon cloud outage slows business at Lincoln restaurant
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln restaurant is losing business amid Amazon’s service outage on Monday.
Amazon Web Services is a cloud service provider for multiple apps around the world.
It’s connected to Snapchat, Venmo and Fortnite, among others.
Early Monday morning, AWS dealt with a major outage, knocking out service to millions of people around the world.

The outage caused disruptions to several universities and workplaces, including some in Lincoln.
Honest Abe’s at 70th and Vine streets uses a service called Toast to take online orders.
But that stopped working, so the restaurant could only accept orders over the phone or in person.
“It’s impacting everyone around in this area,” said Hannah Suggs, an employee there.
She said when the server went down, things got hectic.
“When you have long lines going through and you have to be on the phone, it will hold up the front person that wants to order food,” she said. “And you have to take orders over the phone.”
Suggs said the outage caused a major dip in online sales.
“We’ve only had about 10-15, usually we have 30-40 for lunch,” she said.
She could still take orders in person, but the disruption forced her to add on steps to the process.
The app she uses to clock in and out of work was also down.
But she said while the outage has been aggravating for everyone, most customers have been patient.
“They’ve been more understanding because it’s happening to everybody,” she said.
