UPDATE: What to do if you think your property suffered storm damage

UPDATE:
Shon Jensen said he remembers hearing the hail hit Sunday.
“It was like a machine gun,” Jensen said. “I guess, if you’ve ever heard a machine gun. It was loud.”
Looking over it on Monday, J–Tech Construction said Jensen’s house sustained $25,000 worth of hail damage, including to the windows, gutters, siding and shingles.
“The life of the shingles drastically deteriorated,” exterior expert Mike Gregory said. “So a 50–year shingle can turn into a 5–year shingle after you’ve got damage.”
Companies like them can check your home out. They can use a drone to get photographic evidence on the damage, which you can give to your insurance company.
“That way, when we climb on the roof together with the adjuster and a contractor, we know right where to go find the damage and it makes for a nice, smooth process,” Gregory said.
Of course, homes are not the only things to take a look at. Vehicles are also vulnerable to hail.
Andersen Auto Group said their body shop can examine your car and see if there’s any hail damage.
“Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn’t,” manager John Krause said. “And it’s hard to see outside in the sunlight. We can see it inside under our neon lights a lot better than what people can see outside.”
After that, they’ll give you an estimate, which you can give to your insurance company.

The storm that swept through Lincoln Sunday definitely did some damage.
That can be serious when it comes to windows, siding and shingles.
“So the life of the shingles drastically deteriorated,” said Mike Gregory of J-Tech Construction. “So a 50–year shingle can turn into a 5–year shingle after you’ve got damage.”
He said one of the properties they looked at Monday had sustained $25,000 worth of hail damage.

Andersen Auto Group said their body shop can examine your car for hail damage and give you an estimate.
“It’s hard to see outside in the sunlight,” manager John Krause said. “We can see it inside under our neon lights a lot better than what people can see outside.”
Andersen Auto said they’ve only gotten a few calls so far and they haven’t found any damage to vehicles yet.
