LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office identified the two people who were killed Wednesday in a crash south of Lincoln.

At around 4 p.m., a Buick Lucerne entered the intersection of Highway 77 and Firth Road when it was hit by a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The sheriff’s office said the collision pushed the Buick into a ditch, and the Ford came to a stop in the median.

The driver of the Buick, 63-year-old Patrick Holley of Firth, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife and passenger, 63-year-old Penny Holley, was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old Lincoln man, was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators noted that alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.  Deputies are still working to determine whether seat belts were worn.

The intersection was closed for about three hours as deputies investigated the crash.
