Carrie Jones gets life in prison for 2022 quadruple homicide in Laurel, Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The wife of the man who killed four people in Laurel, Nebraska, was sentenced in Cedar County Court on Thursday.

After being convicted in August, Carrie Jones was sentenced to life in prison for the first-degree murder of Gene Twiford.

Jones was also sentenced to 5-10 years for tampering with physical evidence and 16 to 20 years for being an accessory to a felony.

Early in the morning on Aug. 4, 2022, the small town of Laurel was shocked when four community members were slain in their homes.

Fires were started at both homes after the murders.

Evidence later led authorities to Jason Jones’ home, which started a standoff between him and the SWAT team.

Eventually, authorities entered the home and found him with severe burns. He was taken to a Lincoln hospital before being lodged in jail.

Jason was convicted of four counts of first-degree murder last year. He is set to be sentenced in April 2026.

Carrie was arrested in December 2022 when new information was discovered that showed she played a role before the murders.
