Cold Thanksgiving- Weekend Snow Chances

Thanksgiving: Expect dry, cold and sunny conditions! Temperatures in the 30s and 40s with light winds.

Friday: Expect even colder temperatures especially further north. Snow showers will begin in NE Nebraska Friday afternoon before wintry mix begins further south by the evening. NE Nebraska has the best chance for accumulating snow Friday night. A dusting up to 0.50″+.

Saturday: Saturday morning, the colder air will shift south making for a transition period from rain to snow. Rain will be likely in SE Nebraska before switching over to snow by Saturday afternoon. With rain occurring, this means MOISTURE. As the colder air dives south, a few pockets of dry air could occur meaning snow accumulations will be hindered. Overall, most of us will see slick travel conditions Saturday. Winds will be gusty also, so reduced visibilities will be a concern for travelers. Best chance for high snow accumulations will be further north and east. Stay tuned for updates through Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Hour By Hour

Saturday morning: A surge of cold air drops south and meets warmer, moist air. Expect rain showers to the south and snow showers to the north. In between, a band of sleet (ice pellets) is likely during the transition, creating slick travel conditions through Saturday with windy conditions also.
