Lincoln man arrested after high-speed pursuit through Waverly neighborhoods

A Lincoln man was arrested on a number of charges after leading troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol on a pursuit in Waverly Tuesday, the agency said.

Around 6:45 a.m., a trooper saw a 2008 Saab 9-3 traveling around 93 miles per hour as it was entering Waverly on Highway 6. The trooper tried to stop the vehicle but it sped off.

NSP says a pursuit began as the vehicle turned onto 140th Street in Waverly and continued into neighborhoods. Eventually, the vehicle was forced to stop because of other traffic on the road and because it was pinned-in by the trooper’s vehicle.

The driver, identified by authorities as Jacob Eilers, 29, was arrested for an outstanding warrant, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, no vehicle registration, and numerous traffic violations.

NSP dispatchers received reports that Eilers was driving at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour and passing vehicles on the shoulder of I-80 near mile marker 405 before the pursuit began.
