LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska State Sen. Dan McKeon pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to a charge filed after allegedly groping a woman earlier this year.

According to a court document, McKeon pleaded not guilty to disturbing the peace, a misdemeanor.

The Lancaster County Attorney’s Office filed the charge last week against the state senator from Amherst.

Days after that criminal charge was filed, the Nebraska Legislature’s executive board voted unanimously to recommend that McKeon be expelled from his seat in the Unicameral.

The Nebraska State Patrol said a woman reported that McKeon inappropriately touched her during a party at the Lincoln County Club on May 29.

He was initially cited on suspicion of public indecency.

McKeon’s next court date is scheduled for Jan. 26.
