Athlete of the week: Halle Dolliver

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) -Halle Dolliver is leading the Clippers on and off the court this season.
Right now, Malcolm Girls basketball is 7-0. It’s their best start to a season since 2020. But, Halle has been a big part of it.
Through seven games, she’s notched four double-doubles. She also leads the team in points, rebounds, and assists.
“I try to do everything that I can and if something’s not working for me, like if I’m not shooting and I want to do what I can do on the defensive end, or I try to go get rebounds, Dolliver said. “I just want to do what’s going to help my team. I feel like putting those extra plays in helps in those moments.”
Right now, Dolliver is averaging 18.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. She’s also shooting 55% from the field.
But, for the 5’10 senior, she says it’s the little things that matter the most. She learned that from when she sat out her junior year due to injury.
According to Dolliver, she gained a new appreciation for the game. Right now, she’s doing everything she can to instill that mentality in her final season.
“I’m not taking things for granted as much,” said Dolliver. “I want to do my best and I’m starting to love the sport more and I’ve realized how much it’s meant to me and how much I love it.”
Despite Halle filling up the stat sheet in just about every category, it’s become a team game for her. She plans to take in every game as she continues her senior season.
“I think everyone just wants to win. Everyone also wants what’s best for everyone else,” Dolliver said, when crediting her team’s success. “It’s good having that encouragement from other girls on the team. It’s been nice knowing I have those girls around me and it’s been super fun. I’m super excited for the rest of the season.”
Malcolm will take it’s undefeated record for their next home game vs. Northwest Monday at 10 a.m.
