LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison on Thursday after he was caught with more than a pound of drugs.

Derek Spurlock, 38, got 11 years and eight months in a federal prison for possession with intent to deliver 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, with one prior conviction for a serious drug felony.

After his release from prison, Spurlock will serve an eight-year term of supervised release.

In November 2024, Spurlock was carrying a backpack when he was arrested on an active arrest warrant.

That backpack had 440 grams of meth, 231 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, two digital scales, syringes, and plastic bags.

Additionally, $341 of U.S. currency was found.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the hotel room where he was staying.

They found a glass pipe, plastic bags, and a plastic cup with methamphetamine residue.

In 2017, Spurlock was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in Lancaster County District Court.
