Very Cold Friday With Light Snow Through Saturday
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES are in effect through 6am Saturday for NW Nebraska and through 6am Sunday for counties south of I-80. Snow accumulations up to 3-4″ possible. This snow will be light and fluffy. Winds during this time will stay less than 15 mph, making for better accumulations.
The best chance for snow accumulations above 2″ will be from NW Nebraska down to SE Nebraska. Areas south of I-80 near the KS/NE border has a better chance for snow accumulations up to 3″+. This snow will be light and fluffy. Winds during this time will stay relatively light, making for better accumulations.
Wind gusts Saturday will stay below 15 mph. Blowing snow shouldn’t be a concern. This will make for better snow accumulation through Saturday.
All day Friday, temperatures will feel 10 to 15 degrees below zero. Winds will ease by Friday afternoon, making the wind chill less.
Extreme Cold Warnings are in effect for NE Nebraska through Friday morning, including Omaha. Wind chill values have already dropped to 30–35 degrees below zero, creating life-threatening conditions for anyone exposed to the elements for extended periods.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for all of Nebraska through Sunday-Monday. Through this weekend, wind chill values will consistently range between 10–20 degrees below zero, especially during the overnight and early morning hours. Monday morning will be just like Friday morning (25-35 below zero).
Next week brings small snow chances and cold temperatures once again.
