Athlete of the week: Nick Howard

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves are turning the corner after a 2-3 start. They now sit at 13-5, having won 11 of their past 13 games.
One player that’s led the way, is senior forward Nick Howard.
After not starting in 2024-2025, through 18 games this season he’s logged the third most minutes on the team, and leads the Prairie Wolves in scoring.
Right now he’s averaging 14 points per game, and has been a leader on the offense.
He credits his play to the Nebraska Wesleyan “structure.”
“Just knowing what those cues are, slipping to the basket, or setting good screens,” said Howard. “Just really playing within our structure, and kind of just doing what coach says honestly.”
When Howard steps on the floor, it’s a given that he’ll reach double figures. Since Nov 21, Howard has reached 10+ points in all but one game.
Howard also says the team’s goal is to win the conference. To do that, he adds they’ll need to keep winning away from home.
“The standard is obviously go to the NCAA tournament, win games, and win the league,” Howard said. “We always play with energy at home. It seems like shots just fall at home. Just maintaining consistency on the road will help us get there.”
Nebraska Wesleyan will begin a three game road stint this Wednesday, at Central College. Tip off is set for 7:30.
