Afternoon Sunshine, Warm for Thursday
While we expect warmer weather for Thursday afternoon, temperatures for the morning commute will be close to freezing.
Widespread cloud cover this morning will make way for mostly sunny skies, with the latest runs of StormCast continuing to keep us dry for the rest of the work week.
As warmer temperatures persist, the risk of ice jams will increase in portions of northeast and eastern Nebraska. A Flood Watch is in place until 10 p.m. on Monday, February 9, for areas north of the Capital City.
Highs across the area will range from the upper 50s to the upper 60s.
Morning cloud cover is expected to clear in Lincoln, leaving us with plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Strong wind gusts will be possible across the state, peaking around 30-35 miles per hour in portions of central Nebraska.
Low temperatures will remain mild across southeast Nebraska, with most of us staying above freezing.
Our average low for early February is in the middle teens, but tonight we can expect temperatures nearly 20 degrees above normal.
Temperatures dip briefly on Friday into the upper 40s before highs for this weekend bounce back to the 50s. Monday looks to be our warmest day, with near-record high temperatures for the start of next week. Rain chances return to the forecast on Tuesday, bringing our highs back down to the 40s.
