LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska Board of Regents on Friday approved the appointment of Katherine Ankerson as interim chancellor for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Ankerson takes over the role following the resignation of Rodney Bennett, who served as UNL’s chancellor from mid-2023 until January.

“Interim Chancellor Ankerson is the right leader for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln at this moment,” President Jeffrey Gold said in a press release. “She is extremely collaborative and forward-looking, and I have greatly enjoyed working with her over the past month. I look forward to seeing how the Lincoln campus moves forward and grows stronger under her leadership.”

Before the new role, Ankerson served as UNL’s executive vice chancellor and, previously, as dean, associate dean and professor in UNL’s College of Architecture.
