Huskers’ Maurice Washington enters plea in California court

Nebraska running back Maurice Washington pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in California Wednesday afternoon, according to a court spokesman.
Washington faces felony child porn and misdemeanor revenge porn charges stemming from an incident in California where he allegedly sent his ex-girlfriend video of her being sexually assaulted.
In a post-practice interview Wednesday, Nebraska coach Scott Frost said Washington remains a limited participant in practices while the court process plays out. He said, while healthy, Washington will be held out of the Red-White spring football game Saturday.
“Overall, I think Maurice has done a good job trying to stick to the norm and what practice he has done, he’s looked good,” Frost said.
As for the legal process, Frost reiterated a hands-off approach by the coaching staff.
“We’re going to sit back and let the process play out and see where it lands,” he said.
Washington is due back in court May 13, the spokesman said. The purpose of that meeting would be to determine a legal representative in California for Washington.
