Water and sewage systems compromised in North Bend

Flood waters continue to ravage North Bend, Nebraska.

The city of nearly 1,300 people had seen water rising in recent days from the Platte River and it began flooding the town.

Sunday afternoon the Dodge County Sheriff confirmed both the water and sewage systems in North Bend had been compromised from flooding.

Residents are being told not to flush their toilets or shower and to not drink the water.

The Dodge County Sheriff said they anticipate it will be several days before the sewage and water systems are back up and running as water from the Platte River is still flowing into the city.

Five sheriff deputies are in North Bend evacuating residents.

A central command center has been set up at North Bend Central Junior/Senior High School.

Displaced residents are being taken to Snyder.
