Lincoln man scammed out of $130k

A 72-year-old Lincoln man is out $130,000 after falling for an internet scam.

According to Lincoln Police the man got an email back in June from someone claiming to be Microsoft.

The scammer claimed there was an issue with the 72-year-old’s computer and they need access to fix it.

Police say the man granted them access to his computer and then scammer was able to gain access to the victim’s bank accounts.

Over $130,000 was transferred out the man’s bank account this month LPD said.

If you ever get an email from someone claiming to be a company police recommend calling the company independently to see if the email is real, as most companies never request money via email.
