Husker superfan creates custom ‘Husker-mobile’

You’ll probably find Linda Mauk cruising through the Haymarket in her big red and white van on Husker game day armed with a megaphone and a soulful ‘Go Big Red.’

Mauk spotted the old van for sale back in April and knew she had to have it.

“Whenever I saw I just visualized the Husker van because it was red and white and immediately I just came to the point where I was going to put names all over it.”

She spent just $2,000 on the 29 year old van and set out to make a custom Huskermobile.

Armed with $15 in paint and a vision Mauk spent the summer covering the van in names of Husker greats– Berringer, Osborne, and of course Scott Frost.

Not even the disapproving stares from neighbors was going to deter this Husker superfan.

“They thought I was crazy, but I couldn’t help it that’s the vision that I had for it and it’s the vision I continue to have. I will take all of this off and paint it again.”

She plans on changing the vans design every year. The one player who will definitely make the cut for next years van– Adrian Marteniez.

While this Husker fan is only interested in showcasing her love for the team, she does hope to catch the eye of a certain husker.

“My goal is to actually have five minutes with Scott Frost.”
