UPDATE: Police arrest man who destroyed portion of sidewalk in Haymarket
UPDATE: Lincoln Police have arrested a 19-year-old man who damaged a portion of sidewalk in the Haymarket.
Gabriel Sellers, of Lincoln, was arrested for throwing a 15 gallon barrel of roofing glue off the roof of a construction site and onto the sidewalk on South Canopy Street.
The glue covered the sidewalk in a 14 foot by 18 foot area destroying the sidewalk. The city had to rip up the sidewalk and replace it.
According to police surveillance video captured Sellers dumping the glue.
Sellers was arrested Sunday, October 28 for criminal mischief causing over $5,000 in damage.
Lincoln Police are searching for the person who destroyed a section of sidewalk in the Haymarket.
It happened around 2 a.m. Thursday morning near South Canopy and N Streets, outside the Canopy Street Market.
Police say someone broke into a construction site next to the market, stole roofing glue and primer, and dumped the mixture all over the sidewalk.
Officials say the sidewalk will have to be torn up and replaced, costing the city over $8,300 to replace.
