"About 1965 I started keeping them and I’ve got a whole dresser drawer full of tickets."

James Leffler has been going to Husker games for nearly six decades.

The diehard fan has been holding onto his tickets nearly that long and keep them safe by wearing them on his head.

"The oldest ticket in the hat, 1965, and the price of it."

Leffer says he and his wife began putting tickets in the hat as a hobby.

Almost 60 years and hundreds of games later, the hat is a staple at every pregame tailgate.

There’s been several tailgating spots over the years, but what’s been the most memorable?

Leffler says right outside Barry’s Bar and Grill, "We used to have the football players serving us beer and being bartender after the game."

Times have changed and so have tailgating spots, but the tickets in Leffler’s hat have remained.

Even though he no longer adds tickets to his hat, Leffler’s love for the Huskers has stayed the same.

And his predictions for the teams future?

"Mark my words, the more Nebraska kids we get playing the better chance we have for a championship."
