Authorities: Man flashes handgun while watching ‘Naruto’ in York County road rage incident

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A North Carolina man was arrested on Saturday following a road rage incident in York County, the sheriff’s office says.
Just before 7:30 p.m., deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office were sent to an area near the York exit on Interstate 80.
According to the sheriff’s office, the caller said a semitrailer driver pulled out a handgun and pointed it at his son, who was also in the car during the incident.
Deputies found the truck and pulled the driver over, conducting a “high-risk” traffic stop.
The sheriff’s office said the driver — 42-year-old Rahmel McLaughlin of Gastonia, North Carolina — was arrested without further incident.
During an investigation, deputies searched the truck and found a loaded firearm in the cab that matched the description provided by the victim.
McLaughlin also said he was watching the show “Naruto” while driving the truck at the time of the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
McLaughlin was charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony, terroristic threats and watching television while driving.
He was lodged in the York County Jail.
“The York County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to remain calm during roadway conflicts and to report aggressive or dangerous driving behavior immediately,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. “Incidents involving weapons and distracted driving pose significant risks to public safety.”
