Hastings Public Schools names interim leader after superintendent resigns

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Hastings Public Schools Board of Education appointed a new superintendent on Tuesday.
This comes after the board accepted the resignation of its current superintendent, Dr. Chris Prososki, effective June 30.
According to the board, Prososki will remain on administrative leave through that date, and John Hauser will take his place until then.
Prososki’s resignation is due to a personal matter, and the district said it is unable to offer any further comment on the situation.
Hauser, who served as the district’s Director of Learning and Support, will find an interim superintendent for the 2026-27 school year.
HPS said it will conduct a search for the next full-time superintendent to begin the 2027-28 school year.
“There are many exciting things happening at Hastings Public Schools, and we do not want this situation to overshadow all of the amazing student accomplishments we celebrate this time every year,” said Becky Sullivan, HPS Board of Education president.
