Man arrested following hit and run assault

UPDATE: Lincoln Police arrested the man who hit another man with his car during an argument.

52 year old Leroy Smith was located soon after he and another man fought about a broken window.  

Smith assaulted the other man with a broom handle and then hit him with his car, before driving off. 

Police arrested Smith later Sunday afternoon.

He has been charged with 2nd degree assault and vandalism.

Lincoln Police were called to a home near 13th and High Street just after 10 a.m. Sunday morning on a report of a man being hit by a car.

Officers on scene said a man was transported the Bryan West with non-life threatening injuries. He was hit by a car after a fight broke out between several people.

LPD is still searching for a white 1997 Crown Victoria vehicle suspected of hitting the man. It was last scene near 12th and Dakota streets.
