LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Votes slowly poured in on Tuesday night following the 2026 primary election in Nebraska, and voters in the Norris and Waverly school districts made their voices heard over a couple of bond proposals.

The $64 million Waverly school bond failed after the final vote count revealed 830 votes for it, and 1,325 votes against it.

The bond aimed to add technical programs, improve security and physically expand nearly all schools in the district.

It was previously set at $90 million in 2024, when it failed to be approved the first time.

Similar to Waverly, the Norris School District was asking for $34.8 million to help secure its facilities, improve public safety around the schools and update them to modern standards.

Improvements included redesigning primary entrances with layered controlled‑access checkpoints, relocating administrative offices to the main entrances of the High School, Middle School, and Elementary Schools, and upgrading security technology.

The district also wanted to secure alternative exterior entrances to limit unauthorized access and implement additional safety features.
