LPD arrests Haymarket copper thief

Lincoln Police arrested a man accused of stealing over $1,200 worth of copper and electrical wiring from a construction site in the Haymarket.

Police receive numerous tips after releasing surveillance video from the construction site at 140 Canopy Street. Tips received indicated the person responsible lived in the 400 block of F Street. 

After searching the home and identifying the bike used in the burglary LPD arrested 43-Year-old Kurtis Lukassen.

Several other stolen items were also recovered at his home.

Kurtis was arrested for burglary and police are investigating if he’s tied to other copper thefts throughout the city.
